This audio track of All I Once Held Dear, is by one of my favourite singers – Robin Mark. I heard some of his music for the first time about 5 years ago when the Lord started ‘undoing’ me and taking me into the very painful process of ‘more of Him and less of me’.
I am from Scotland, so the instruments he uses and the Celtic style of his music, has always drawn me. I don’t know anything about him, but I simply love his music ministry.
The first time I sang this song, or rather, blubbered my way through is a better description, I got so overwhelmed and so full of emotion at what God had done for me on the cross and what He was bringing about in my life and had already done so far. It left me in a mess. I became so tangibly aware of Him, so aware of my intense need of Him, so aware of my past and present failures and understood fully how it had to be all Him or nothing at all.
As you listen, (or sing along) I hope it will touch some deep need in you too, that God might use it to speak into the deepest, darkest areas that only He sees – of what makes you, you, and the part you are still holding on to and bring it into His glorious Light, so that you may lay it at the foot of His cross, ‘step over it’ and then move forward into a deeper intimacy with Him.
All I once held dear, built my life upon
All this world reveres and wants to own
All I once thought gain, I have counted loss
Spent and worthless now compared to this
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my All, You’re the Best
You’re my Joy, my Righteousness
And I love You Lord
Now my heart’s desire is to know You Lord
To be found in you and known as yours
To possess by faith what I could not earn
All surpassing years of righteousneess
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my All, You’re the Best
You’re my Joy, my Righteousness
And I love You Lord
Oh to know the power of Your risen life
And to know You in your sufferings,
To become like you in your death my Lord
So with you to live and never die
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my All, You’re the Best
You’re my Joy, my Righteousness
And I love You Lord
And I love you Lord
And I love you Lord
Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You
There is no greater thing
You’re my All, You’re the Best
You’re my Joy, my Righteousness
And I love You Lord

Jessie,
Thanks for the beautiful song and your thoughts.
God has been dealing with me. You probably have more than a little to do with this.
Gene, Let me share this wonder with you –
Philippians 1:3-11
Thankfulness and Prayer
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
In Jesus, Jessie
