Years ago, God put it on my heart to start a boys’ home on Long Island. I truly sensed the Lord was behind this work. Yet, after just eighteen months, state officials imposed such stringent regulations on the operation of the home that we had no option but to close it down. We’d taken in four boys during the brief time we were open. After we closed down, I l […]
Sola Scriptura
The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.
Sola Fide
Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.
Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.
Sola Gratia
Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.
Until a few years ago when asked about the Lord, after I got my wits about me after frantically trying to work out how exactly to word myself, I usually ended up having very little to say, if anything at all and would be left with a feeling of utter impotence.
I mean, I knew stuff – lots of theory, but whenever I tried to explain about the theory as a fact or reality in my own life, the words just rang hollow…even to my own ears and so the words just remained as they [...]
Sometimes the Lord asks us difficult things. The reason they are deemed difficult, is that we are faced with ourselves, whilst looking into His ‘mrror’.
This message below, by Pastor Larry De Bruin from Herescope blog is one such message that holds up just that, the Lord’s ‘mirror’. It s a sobering message, but necessary for us to be reminded to keep the Lord up front and our eyes and ears wide open to Him, to be given to Him in complete surrender.
May the Lord seek our hearts as we read, and may we prepared [...]
Perhaps you have never thought of prayer in any other way other than “you need, you ask and God delivers…” Whether this is how you understand prayer or not, I would really encourage you to read on, and be blessed by them and learn from someone who walked close to the Lord and who through his teaching of it, changed my own understanding of why we pray, 180 degrees…
Get into the habit of dealing with God about everything. Unless in the first waking moment of the day you learn to fling the door wide back and let God in, you [...]
I visited a site this morning that I belonged to a few years ago and came across this posting that I wrote back in 2006 of which the main thrust was to become the title for this blog, Surrender All.
We are now almost in 2010 and my relationship in the Lord has certainly grown, and the thoughts I had back then about giving my all (or our all), have not changed but have rather grown stronger :
To hand ourselves, in every sense of the word, completely over to God, and give up every right to our lives forever to be [...]
September 13th. My Utmost for His Highest – Oswald Chambers
“I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do.” John 17:4
Surrender is not the surrender of the external life, but of the will; when that is done, all is done. There are very few crises in life; the great crisis is the surrender of the will. God never crushes a man’s will into surrender, He never beseeches him, He waits until the man yields up his will to Him. That battle never needs to be re-fought.
Surrender for Deliverance. “Come unto Me and I will give you rest.” It is [...]
There is a burning desire in many to bring about a unification of all faiths and that we can all now worship together because of this. That is of course, if you are not a Spirit-filled child of God.
We also know that this is part of the times we are living in -that the Lord’s ‘time-line’ is moving along as planned.
Being seen as spiritual is so ‘in’ or cool. Make any small talk about the spirit of the universe, or Buddhism or tranquillity and hey! you have instant folks to talk to. Bring up the Love of God and mention [...]
I feel very overwhelmed in my heart tonight. I am full of worship and awe but It feels like I have lips that are lame. Sometimes there are just no words to express what one feels. This old Hymn does it much better than I can. I will add the audio shortly.
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea,
A great high Priest whose Name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence [...]
A couple of posts ago, I shared that Mike Ratliff had had a seizure. This is an update on his condition and also a link to a most wonderful posting that he has written.
Come to Me and I Will Give You Rest
My brethren, I do not know why God has brought back a very old illness to torment me at this time. I suffered several seizures in the late 1970’s, but have had none since then until a few weeks ago. I have had two over a period of 10 days. They were very severe and I am in a lot [...]
A river touches places of which its source knows nothing, and Jesus says if we have received of His fulness, however small the visible measure of our lives, out of us will flow the rivers that will bless to the uttermost parts of the earth. We have nothing to do with the outflow – “This is the work of God that ye believe. . . .” God rarely allows a soul to see how great a blessing he is.
A river is victoriously persistent, it overcomes [...]
This is a request for prayer for a very dear brother in the Lord – Mike Ratliff who is a fellow-blogger and has the blog – Possessing the Treasure. I have been so incredibly blessed by the Lord connecting me with him. A couple of weeks ago, he thought he had tick-bite fever, but it turns out it may be to do with his liver. Early yesterday morning, he collapsed. He is fully trusting the Lord for the outcome, whatever it may be.
