This is a request for prayer for a very dear brother in the Lord – Mike Ratliff who is a fellow-blogger and has the blog - Possessing the Treasure. I have been so incredibly blessed by the Lord connecting me with him. A couple of weeks ago, he thought he had tick-bite fever, but it turns out it may be to do with his liver. Early yesterday morning, he collapsed. He is fully trusting the Lord for the outcome, whatever it may be.
Here is his posting of today:
Seizures
September 1, 2009 — Mike Ratliff
I got up this morning at 5:30AM to go to work. I prepared my coffee and then got ready to walk down into my basement to spend time in prayer and devotion. Just as I turned to head that way I remember becoming very light-headed. I had a very strange feeling that I could no longer bring any thought into sharp focus. The next thing I remember was coming-to in an ambulance with para-medics working on me and trying to get me say things that made sense. It was very confusing. We arrived at our local hospital a few minutes later and they took me into the ER. There they continued to ask me tough questions like, “What is your wife’s name?” I kept asking for water and for them to do something about very sharp pains in my shoulder and back.
Over the next several hours, I began to comprehend more as the paramedics turned me over to the Emergency Medicine doctors and nurses. They ran every blood test there was, x-rayed my shoulder and back, ran a C-Scan on my head, and finally an MRI on my brain. They finally released me around 2:30 PM. I have a prescription for some ant-seizure medicine and am not allowed to drive a car or operate heavy machinery.
The toughest part for me today is talking with my family about what is going on. We are close and all of us understand that we are completely in God’s hands. I will be taking a few days off from writing and posting. Please pray for me and my family.
Soli Deo Gloria!
Thank you and bless you
Steph

Sister Jess, I just now read this post. My time on the internet is very limited, for financial reasons I no longer have internet access in my home. I am using my sister’s computer. So I am not on as much as I used to be.
I will indeed pray for this dear brother. I have been blessed by Mike’s writings many times over. I pray the Lord will be gracious, and continue to bless us through Mike. I realize it is far better to be with the Lord; may His will be done.
Thanks for this post sister, I love you and am praying for you as well. I would ask for prayer for myself as well. We all need prayer, as you well know. May our gracious Lord continue to bless each one of His children, may He come quickly!
Dear sister Lyn. I am so glad you are able to get some time online – I have noticed your blog is a little quiet.
As you read, he took a break for a few days. But he wrote yesterday that it seems he is being diagnosed with epilepsy so far but is waiting for more results from tests too. I am going to put a note on my site to let folks know to visit his site so they can see how he is doing directly from him. He wrote a wonderful posting today too.
I have been so encouraged and blessed by the amount of prayers for him on his blog and can see the Lord rallying brothers and sisters around him. What a joy to have a family in the Lord !
I will certainly pray for you and your family. I am also not able to be on line as much as I used to.
It was so lovely to hear from you. Are you still studying?
Bless you and love you with His love dear sis!
