My Utmost For His Highest

Faith Defenders

  • GOD’S ULTIMATE PLAN March 12, 2010
By the close of the book of Genesis, God had chosen a small, insignificant people to become a teaching nation. He wanted to raise up a people who would be living examples of his goodness to the heathen world. So, to bring about such a testimony, God took his people into places that were beyond their control. He isolated Israel in a wilderness, where he alone […]

  • The mysterious case of the disappearing gospel March 13, 2010
Have you noticed? Christian organizations everywhere are emphasizing the importance of engaging in practical ways with the poor and needy. The talk is of ‘impacting people’s lives for the Kingdom’ and ‘responding to Jesus’ call to look after the poorest and most vulnerable’. This is a good thing, surely? Is this not simply following the example that [...] […]

The Solas

Sola Scriptura
The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

Sola Fide
Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.

Sola Gratia
Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.

Soli Deo Gloria
To God alone belongs the glory.

Crying out to the Lord in prayer

Psalm 36:5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Psalm 36:5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

I have a very dear sister in the Lord.  We have never met, neither have we ever spoken, yet I know unequivocally, that the Lord has joined us together as sisters and I have been so blessed, encouraged, challenged and changed by her candid, transparent style of writing and the sharing of her life and walk. All glory to the Lord for all this. It is all of His doing.

The Lord has brought her to a point where she has been called to move out of the ‘blogosphere’ for now and into a time with Him.  She has written a post regarding a prayer moment she had recently that I would so encourage you to read.  It describes us all at some time or many times,  in our walk.

Barbara, I just want to say , Thank you.

Bless you

:-D

Walking on Water

I want to share something before I go. And in doing so, I hope that it will bring glory to our risen Christ and maybe some comfort to someone somewhere who might be in the midst of a similar battle. It is something that happened in prayer that I reflect on periodically, something that strengthens me even now. It seems that there are some things that we are to hold close to our hearts, and some things we are to tell of regarding the wonderful things our God does for us.

This is only a personal experience, but for me it was a profound one that changed the course of a prayer and of an internal battle, and brought home some solid, scriptural truths that bring much comfort in times of distress.
