Years ago, God put it on my heart to start a boys’ home on Long Island. I truly sensed the Lord was behind this work. Yet, after just eighteen months, state officials imposed such stringent regulations on the operation of the home that we had no option but to close it down. We’d taken in four boys during the brief time we were open. After we closed down, I l […]
Sola Scriptura
The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.
Sola Fide
Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.
Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.
Sola Gratia
Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.
The heavens declare the glory of the Lord. Psalm 19:1
This morning I was replying to a post on another blog, and a Hymn written by Frederick Brook was brought to mind. It is a heart cry for God to do what He has to do in us, at any cost to ourselves.
Whatever it takes Lord, Please Do It!
My goal is God Himself, not joy, nor peace,
Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God;
‘Tis His to lead me there—not mine, but His—
At any cost, dear Lord, by any road.

So faith bounds forward to its goal in God,
And love can [...]
When last did you think about the Lord’s forgiveness? I am not talking about glancing thoughts, I am talking about deep-on-your-knees-in-your-heart thinking. We speak about it so easily, and freely and without really giving it much thought. We all do or have done, at some time or another. I know I certainly have. But have you ever wondered why it is so easy for us to accept this forgiveness?
Forgiveness is so easy for us to accept, because it cost Jesus the agony of the cross of Calvary…
From today’s reading in My Utmost for His Highest.
My dear brother Mike Ratliff’s latest posting is a wonderful, wonderful read. There is a gem of a story pertaining to George Whitefield’s ministry from way back in 18th century England inside it, which is so absolutely awesome!
Get yourself a cuppa then sit and read it and allow the Lord to minister to you through it.
(You will need to go to his blog to read at the end of this excerpt, as the Greek does not come up here correctly.)
What I find so interesting is that the scientists are fascinated by the findings of heart disease in these mummies in the articles below. We know (or perhaps at this moment you do not), that we are a fallen species and live in a fallen creation which has been cursed by God, and is doomed to an end as He predicted and by His hand it will take place at His appointed time.
Romans 3:20-28
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Some wonderful words of encouragement this Monday morning – living your life in the Lord in your everyday, regular ol’ life.
November 16th.
STILL HUMAN!
“Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
The great marvel of the Incarnation slips into ordinary childhood’s life; the great marvel of the Transfiguration vanishes in the devil-possessed valley; the glory of the Resurrection descends into a breakfast on the sea-shore. This is not an anti-climax, but a great revelation of God.
The tendency is to look for the marvellous in our experience; we mistake the sense of the heroic for being heroes. It is [...]
David Wilkerson put this on his blog on Friday. It is a glorious piece that fills me with such longing and joy and I trust it will do the same for you this Sunday!
HEAVEN
“Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Many believers quote this verse daily, applying it to their trials and tribulations. Yet the context in which Paul speaks it suggests a deeper meaning. Just two verses earlier, Paul states, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy [...]
I was reminded this morning of a post I wrote over of the Faith Defender’s forum a year ago and feel led to now post it here. There is some good discussion going on below it from other brothers and sisters.
You may be reading this and find yourself in need of a word of comfort right now.
Perhaps you have been severely hurt by your church as so many have been right now, or are going through some tough situations that make no sense at all and you feel like you are up against a wall..
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
‘Seeker Friendly’, is a term that most of us are probably familiar with.
It covers so much of what is seen as the visible church and is completely man-placating and not of God — none of it. If the foundation stone is corrupted, so then too will be the building from that point upwards.
But what does the Bible have to say about a ‘Gospel’ without the cross, or one that does not confront our sin or [...]
