Ancients ‘had heart disease too’

What I find so interesting is that the scientists are fascinated by the findings of heart disease in these mummies in the articles below. We know (or perhaps at this moment you do not), that we are a fallen species and live in a fallen creation which has been cursed by God, and is doomed to an end as He predicted and by His hand it will take place at His appointed time.

Romans 3:20-28

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God’s Righteousness Through Faith

21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

People have not changed inherently as people. The results of that curse has not changed either.  Does it matter whether they had heart disease or not? How will it make a difference to our lives knowing that they too had heart disease without the modern diet we have?

“So humans in ancient times had the genetic predisposition and environment to promote the development of heart disease.

“The findings suggest that we may have to look beyond modern risk factors to fully understand the disease.”

As Solomon says, there is nothing new under the sun…  Ecclesiastes 1:9

God made a provision, an out if you like, for those who have  a heart for Him. Jesus having been crucified on the cross and our faith in Him, our full repentance and being ‘born of the Spirit, John 3:5 is the only way out for us as a human race to be reconciled to God.

Salvation is God’s idea, not ours.

It has to be done God’s way, not our way.  It is God’s incredible mercy and  love for us that has made this possible. You were not created to be independent from God, you were created to have an intimate, dependent relationship, as Jesus has, with Him.

Whether you agree or not, or believe or not, our lives are actually not about us.  Our lives are to be all about Christ. The question is,  how you are going to respond to Jesus when He shouts, “Come” to you?

Without Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we all have ‘heart disease’

Bless you.

Mummy going into scanner

Hardening of the arteries has been found in Egyptian mummies – suggesting that the risk factors for heart disease may be ancient, researchers say.

A team of US and Egyptian scientists carried out medical scans on 22 mummies from Cairo’s Museum of Antiquities.

They found evidence of hardened arteries in three of them and possible heart disease in three more.

All the mummies were of high socio-economic status and would have had a rich diet.

Details of the study by the University of California, the Mid America Heart Institute, Wisconsin Heart Hospital and Al Azhar Medical School in Cairo appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The team said the subjects’ bodies had been preserved by mummification because they were serving in the court of the Pharaoh or were priests or priestesses.
