1 Cor 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Do you believe this?
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” 20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks (or gentiles) seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
It could not be clearer. Understanding and accepting the Message of the Cross has nothing at all to do with our human intellect, our human ability to reason, our human cleverness or wisdom. It has to do with God and His mercy and His Grace and His vast Love towards us. This love so great, sent His Son to die in our stead, for our sin, not His. God Himself became our Saviour. It begins and ends with Him and Him alone – He moves us to respond to Him, because He is omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (everywhere all the time) and omnipotent (all powerful) He knew before time began who would bow their knee to Him. Jesus died on the Cross for you and me, while we were still sinners! Nothing we can add to this can make it any more perfect, any more ‘MOREISH’. It is completed, finished.
And you and I, when we open our hearts and ask God’s forgiveness for having lived without Him, being independent and from Him for so long and so sinfully as a result of this, it is on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that we are able to be reconciled to our Heavenly Father, and on that basis alone. (His Atonement)
No good deeds or works, no kind words, not even dying for another or believing in some benevolent, supernatural creator or even, as some may believe, sitting in a church every Sunday as a matter of keeping up appearances with your neighbour, without the Life of Christ in you, as good as they may sound or appear to others on the outside, without Jesus Christ and His Cross and believing the words of Jesus in John 14:6 where Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” every single thing outside of Him that is trying to attain to salvation via human goodness or in human ways is utterly futile and will lead to a place of eternal death and not to a place of eternal life as some may have been falsely led to believe. As hard as this may be to accept, It is God’s Truth. The cry of the world and even many deceived modern day Christians is, -“God is Love and won’t send kind people to hell – he is not a God of Love if he does this.” They do not know the God of their Bible.
When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Good people don’t go to heaven. Broken, repentant, sinners do.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
God loves you and wants you to come to a place of repentance and Salvation and to spend eternity with you, but it has to be His way and His way is through Jesus Christ. You can say yes or you can say no. You might have been told and believe that ‘you are just acceptable as you are’ in God’s eyes, that ‘you can have Jesus and your life as it is right now’, or ‘that God has no need of changing anything in your life’. If you believe that then, I am to tell you in the love of God, that you are believing a lie and to plead with you to look to God for His Truth and examine all that you currently believe. That ‘gospel’ is not the Gospel of God, that is the gospel according to man and you are in a place of utter deception. Go and read the Bible for yourself. Ask the Lord to show you His Truth. Write to me if you have questions, or to any of the dear brothers and sisters on my links to other blogs, but don’t just turn away from what I have written here. You have too much to lose and will have eternity to reflect on your loss.
In the love of Jesus
