The fool has said in his heart, that there is no God

Deuteronomy 4:39
Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the LORD Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

Psalm 14

–To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 The fool has said in his heart,
There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3 They have all turned aside,
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
No, not one.

Over at In The Days, they have an article by Fox News regarding a new advertising campaign which is being run by The American Humanist Association for the holiday season in DC area. It says “Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness’ sake,”

“Edwords said the purpose isn’t to argue that God doesn’t exist or change minds about a deity, although “we are trying to plant a seed of rational thought and critical thinking and questioning in people’s minds.””

The group defines humanism as “a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism, affirms our responsibility to lead ethical lives of value to self and humanity.”

“Last month, the British Humanist Association caused a ruckus announcing a similar campaign on London buses with the message: “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.”

Humanism is one of the deadly ‘gospels’ that is gaining such approval worldwide. It puts mans needs and wants over that of their Creator, Almighty Saviour and Lord. It says “We will do it our own way – we know what’s best for ourselves, we don’t need any approval from You or need to take heed at what you require from us”.

The purpose driven agenda has done much to promote this in such a subtle, appealing way, that if you don’t know what the Bible teaches you could be easily misled by all the ‘feel good about doing lots of good ‘stuff – many have already gone this way. There is so much available to anyone who wishes to discern what is going on to be aware and on guard against all this and other heresy. Our greatest protection from heresy is the Holy Spirit Himself. Ask Him to show you.

Look at what David says about his goodness, and this is the man that the Lord said, was after His own heart. Where’s your heart this morning?

Psalm 16

1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.

2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
3 As for the saints who are on the earth,
“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;
Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take up their names on my lips.

5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance.

7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

And lastly, even the demons know God exists and tremble…

James 2:19

You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!

    It is amazing what is happening in the world today. Thank God for His guidance through the Holy spirit. It just baffles me at what is going on these days, how desperately we need to keep ourselves IN Christ in these times.

    Excellent post!

    Very good post.

    That kind of phrases is exactly what people wants to hear.. those are ideas that bring heavy consequences in our contemporary culture.. starting with Charles Darwin telling the world that this life is the only thing that exists is just a psychological argument in order to not acknowledge Creator rules.

    But that is written, therefore we can rest in our Lord’s word.
