My Utmost For His Highest

Faith Defenders

  • WALKING IN THE GLORY September 8, 2010
One thing that can keep us going in the coming hard times is an understanding of God's glory. Now, this may sound like a high, lofty concept to you, one that's best left to theologians. But I'm convinced the subject of God's glory has very real, practical value for every true believer. By grasping it, we unlock the door to an overcoming l […]

The Solas

Sola Scriptura
The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

Sola Fide
Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.

Sola Gratia
Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.

Soli Deo Gloria
To God alone belongs the glory.

Put God first literally – “Perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1

Oswald Chambers

March 18th.

SHALL I ROUSE MYSELF UP TO THIS?

“Perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1

“Having therefore these promises.” I claim the fulfilment of God’s promises, and rightly, but that is only the human side; the Divine side is that through the promises I recognize God’s claim on me. For instance, am I realizing that my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, or have I a habit of body that plainly will not bear the light of God on it? By sanctification the Son of God is formed in me, then I have to transform my [...]

Still Human!

Some wonderful words of encouragement this Monday morning – living your life in the Lord in your everyday, regular ol’  life.

November 16th.

STILL HUMAN!

“Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

The great marvel of the Incarnation slips into ordinary childhood’s life; the great marvel of the Transfiguration vanishes in the devil-possessed valley; the glory of the Resurrection descends into a breakfast on the sea-shore. This is not an anti-climax, but a great revelation of God.

The tendency is to look for the marvellous in our experience; we mistake the sense of the heroic for being heroes. It is [...]

Over at End Time Disciplesbrother Gene has a comment by a wonderful sister called Bimbola on his ‘Off the Wall’ page called Breakfast at Macdonalds sharing the Lord’s love in her for 2 homeless men He brought across her path – please take a read – it is quite far down the page.

It reminded me of a moment that I will forever treasure, that I would like to share with you now, If I may?

After church one Sunday, during the time in my life I was clawing my way out of what was at the time, a lifeless, man-centred [...]

Out of the mouths of babes…

My Brother-in-law and his family moved to New Zealand a couple of years ago. He has two young children who have been brought up with Jesus since birth. My brother-in-law was sitting with his 7yr old son one day, showing him some recent pictures of archaeological discoveries in the Red Sea, of chariot wheels and other Egyptian artifacts. He said to his son, “and this is proof that the Israelites did cross the Red Sea and when the Egyptian followed, God Closed the water over them and they drowned – just like it says in the Bible.” His son thought [...]

The Divine Rule of Life

The Divine Rule of Life

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”Matthew 5:48

Our Lord’s exhortation in these verses is to be generous in our behaviour to all men. In the spiritual life beware of walking according to natural affinities. Everyone has natural affinities; some people we like and others we do not like. We must never let those likes and dislikes rule in our Christian life. “If we walk in the light as God is in the light,” God will give us communion with people for whom we have no natural affinity.

The Example Our [...]
