  • FOLLOWING HOLINESS March 12, 2010
God’s Word tells us in no uncertain terms: “Follow…holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). Here is the truth, plain and simple. Without the holiness that’s imparted by Christ alone—a precious gift we honor by leading a life devoted to obeying his every Word—none of us will see the Lord. And this refers not just to heaven, but to o […]

  • Bob DeWaay on the dangers of spiritual formation and spiritual disciplines March 18, 2010
My friend Mike Ratliff presents a superb article by Bob DeWaay that gets to the heart of the problems inherent in spiritual formation and spiritual disciplines. As usual, Pastor DeWaay is Scriptural, clear, insightful and convincing. What more could you want? If you have read my article Spiritual growth? There’s an app for that, you’ll be [...] […]

The Solas

Sola Scriptura
The Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.

Sola Fide
Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.

Solus Christus
Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.

Sola Gratia
Our salvation rests solely on the work of God’s grace for us and in us.

Soli Deo Gloria
To God alone belongs the glory.

Analysis: Obama, Nobel peace, and Israel

What does it mean for Israel, that President Obama has been given the Nobel Peace Prize? What new pressures does it bring for her as it surely must? The Lord is allowing all this.

This article I have linked to below, is seen from a Jewish News site/newspaper perspective. I am sure there are others who might feel differently, but for now I have this one. You are most welcome to give me links to different Jewish Views – it will be very interesting to watch what unfolds from this.

Excerpt taken from the Jerusalem Post. Click on this link to read the whole commentary.

It is hard to believe that Israeli government ministers jumped for joy when they heard the news, the words of congratulations from President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak notwithstanding.

From Jerusalem’s point of view the prize could be problematic on two counts: the first in relation to the diplomatic process with the Palestinians, and the second having to do with Iran.

Regarding the peace process, an Obama crowned with the peace prize will be even more difficult to say “no” to than an Obama without the peace prize.

More difficult, but, of course, not impossible.
